Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI SP

Protectosil® ANTIGRAFFITI protects surfaces to allow easy removal of a wide variety of graffiti, including spray paint, permanent marker, ink, bituminous paints, asphalt sealers, and other solvent or waterborne paints. Because of Protectosil® ANTIGRAFFITI’s superior performance, standard non-hazardous cleaners and low-pressure water blasting are sufficient removal methods for most graffiti.

Antigraffiti SP – Silane Anti-Graffiti Protection

Protectosil® ANTIGRAFFITI SP is an aqueous silane-based system designed to make porous mineral building surfaces hydrophobic and oleophobic, effectively repelling graffiti, oils, and solvent-based paints. It penetrates and chemically bonds with substrates such as concrete, brick, sandstone, limestone, and natural stone, providing semi-permanent protection that allows 3 to 5 cleaning cycles before reapplication is needed. Unlike sacrificial coatings, ANTIGRAFFITI SP remains clear and invisible, preserving the surface’s natural appearance while allowing moisture vapor to escape.

This product maintains a breathable barrier while preventing staining and damage from sprayed paints and markers. Because of its fluorosiloxane chemistry, ANTIGRAFFITI SP resists UV degradation and alkali attack, and it does not form a surface film that could degrade over time. Instead, it creates a deeply penetrated surface layer that withstands repeated graffiti removal with standard non-hazardous cleaners or low-pressure washing, without sacrificing performance.

APPLICATION is as simple as ensuring the surface is clean, dry, and free of contaminants such as dirt, efflorescence, algae, or oils. It can be applied via brush, roller, or HVLP spray (low-pressure high-volume for minimized overspray). The first coat is typically diluted to increase absorption, followed by two full-strength applications. Each coat should be applied uniformly, allowing the surface to dry fully between coats. Coverage depends on porosity, usually between 125 and 250 ft²/gal.

ANTIGRAFFITI SP must be stored between 3 °C and 40 °C (40–104 °F); it should not be applied at temperatures below 3 °C. The product comes in 25.4 kg pails or 200 kg drums and has a shelf life of at least 12 months in sealed containers.

Benefits of ANTIGRAFFITI SP

  • Repels water, oil, and solvent-based paints on mineral surfaces
  • Hydro- and oleophobic while remaining vapor permeable
  • Semi-permanent—up to 3–5 cleanings before reapplication
  • Leaves surface virtually unchanged in appearance
  • Non-film forming and breathable
  • Low VOC, aqueous-based formula
  • Resists UV, alkali, and weather attack

Typical Applications

  • Concrete structures
  • Brick or clinker masonry
  • Sandstone (excluding Udelfanger sandstone), limestone, and natural stone surfaces
