Protectosil BHN

Protectosil® BHN is a clear, penetrating, breathable, VOC-compliant surface treatment for use on concrete. The unique 100% silane treatment (no solvent) penetrates the substrate and chemically bonds with silica to form a permanent attachment of the water repellent molecule. Creates a deep hydrophobic layer that prevents water and waterborne contaminants from entering the substrate and causing premature deterioration. By combining low surface tension with a tailored rate of reaction, Protectosil BHN can move through the moisture boundary layer that lines the pore structure of the substrate. This permits the development of uniform gradient permeation — a consistent level of protection throughout the entire penetration depth, allowing for longer treatment life, especially on wearing surfaces.

Protectosil BHN

Protectosil BHN is a highly effective water repellent designed for the long-term protection of mineral construction materials in outdoor environments. Specially formulated for cast-in-place, precast, glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), and high-strength concrete, it offers exceptional defense against water, deicing salts, and other waterborne contaminants. This silane treatment helps prevent deterioration caused by alkali-silica reactivity and is ideal for bridge decks, piers, coastal buildings, and high-traffic surfaces exposed to high salt concentrations. Its deep penetration into dense substrates provides a durable, high-performance chloride screen without changing the surface appearance.

Common Applications

Protectosil BHN is recommended for concrete bridge decks, coastal structures, piers, high-traffic roads, and areas exposed to heavy salt or freeze-thaw conditions. It is suitable for both new construction and maintenance projects, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.

Packaging

Available in 25 L, 200 L, and 900 L IBCs. Shelf life is at least 12 months when stored in sealed containers at recommended temperatures.
