Protectosil 300C

A clear, penetrating, breathable, VOC-compliant surface treatment for use on concrete. The unique solvent-free silane treatment penetrates the substrate and chemically bonds with silica to form a permanent attachment of the water repellent molecule. The addition of a migrating corrosion inhibitor allows the Protectosil® 300C to be used to reduce corrosion in steel-reinforced concrete. The inhibitor migrates to reach the steel and form a protective layer to reduce active corrosion sites.

Product Description

Protectosil® 300C is a clear, penetrating, breathable surface treatment for concrete. This solvent-free silane technology chemically bonds with silica to form a permanent attachment of the water-repellent molecule. It creates a deep hydrophobic barrier that prevents the ingress of water and waterborne contaminants, reducing premature deterioration. The corrosion inhibitor component migrates into the steel reinforcement, forming a protective layer and mitigating active corrosion, including both microcell and macrocell corrosion mechanisms.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for below-grade waterproofing
  • Do not apply below 20°F (-6.5°C) or above 100°F (38°C)
  • Do not apply if rain or wind is expected within 4 hours
  • Allow 48 hours drying if surface has been rained on
  • May leave residue on glass or metals
